Here are some of the nuggets of wisdom that have been passed down from veteran and power users of OnRamp ERP to new staff at our customer locations:
Don’t forget to set your default printer on your User Options.
From the smallest fastener to the final shipped order, everything should be inputted into OnRamp ERP. Keeping track of every item decreases silo-ing and improves transparency and visibility of all operations.
Review and print out a copy of the OnRamp ERP acronyms and hotkey shortcuts.
Check the OnRamp blog and online help for videos, guides, and other information on how to improve your experience in OnRamp ERP.
Add a box by your desk. After you process and scan a document, throw it in the box. At the end of 60 days, if you didn’t touch or need the paper, shred it. After a year, you will be able to greatly decrease your number of document storage cabinets.
Once you are more comfortable with OnRamp ERP, take a look at the Form Recognition module for more ways to improve your office efficiency.
Test and teach your staff on your alternate environments. Every installation of OnRamp ERP includes at least 2 other instances of your data:
Because these two instances have your data already in them, they can be a great place to test something or train new staff without worrying about how it will affect your production data.
Change the background color for each of your environments so you can quickly see which environment you are on. This is set on User Options > Environment Options. This way, by having a different color background for your copy or sandbox environments you can quickly, at a glance, know where you are.
If you need to find your purchase orders, you can see them in a production purchase order screen or report or, for non-production POs, they are received on non-production purchased orders via S1609. Use this screen or R4347 to quickly see the information.
To see how much you paid a vendor/ supplier, use R3507.
Schedule and review your schedule audits at regular intervals to ensure that every part of the shop gets a regular review.
You can add any digital document into OnRamp ERP. Use the Document Storage Retrieval (DSR) module to manage your internal documentation, like regulatory documents, training manuals, maintenance manuals, and all sorts of other important documents. Setup the proper security codes so that only those that need the documents can have them immediately available when they need them without having to spend time asking around for where they may be.
Setup your team with the correct access so they can quickly take a picture and email their expenses into OnRamp ERP. This will ensure there is never a missing slip when an approver or an accountant needs it.
