When Mancor, Royal Windsor Drive, approached us here are OnRamp they told us they were having issues with issues, plant issue management to be more specific. The challenge for the plant managers was knowing how many plant issues they had, who resolved them and when they were resolved. Currently, if there is a plant issue, staff members very often just take it to someone they think can help them or just jot it down on a piece of paper, which seldom results in any accurate logging or tracking. Some issues, the ones that managers are aware of, are logged and brought up during production team meetings to determine their status, but this does not provide the team with a complete record of plant-wide issues.
The Manager’s also had to deal with the challenge of following up on the reported issues. Very often time was being spent chasing up other managers and supervisors, which cost time and was inefficient. The only reporting the managers had available to them was a list of completed, known, issues occupying a single tab on an excel spreadsheet.
The Mancor RWD plant manager, Wayne Mount, knew that OnRamp had developed their own internal issue management system. The OnRamp team’s solution included issue logging, tracking, reporting and task assignment, it had 100% visibility and accountability. Wayne thought that having a similar system for the Mancor RWD would be the ideal solution to manage all the plant’s issues and provide much-needed transparency for the other plant managers.
Chis Gouveia, the lead software developer for this project, worked closely with the plant management team to create a new OnRamp feature based on their requirements and timeline.
Plant managers can review submitted plant issue tickets and assign tasks for completion
Manage Ticket Notifications are used to subscribe to trouble ticket notifications
What OnRamp developed was a solution that has allowed the plant managers and supervisors to have the full visibility they need of all the pending, active and resolved plant issues in one location. They can also see who is responsible for each task which makes issue tracking and follow-up significantly easier to manage. Having the ability to Prioritize and schedule tasks through the new system has been a welcome addition to the weekly production meeting. Overall the management team is very happy that plant issues are now more manageable, more visible and resolved quicker.
